Who doesn’t love an excuse to eat pancakes for dinner? Pancake Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is a long-standing tradition that I just recently learned about! It’s similar to Fat Tuesday, a day of indulgence before the season of Lent begins. According to English Heritage 🇬🇧, people would use up ingredients like eggs, butter, and fat by making pancakes or fritters—and honestly, what better way to celebrate than with a big stack of fluffy goodness?

Classic Pancake Recipe
Here’s a simple, fail-proof recipe to celebrate Pancake Tuesday!
Ingredients:

2 tbsp sugar
½ tsp salt
1 ¼ cups milk
1 egg
2 tbsp melted butter or oil

Method:
1️⃣ In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
2️⃣ In a separate bowl, mix milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
3️⃣ Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring just until combined (don’t overmix!).
4️⃣ Heat a greased pan over medium heat. Pour ¼ cup batter per pancake.
5️⃣ Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
6️⃣ Serve warm with your favorite toppings—maple syrup, berries, or even a dusting of powdered sugar!
